PRMS Library Information : The PRMS library has over 7000 books, a growing eBook collection, 35 student and professional magazines, and 24 computers. We offer materials that appeal to all levels of readers and provide support to teachers and their curriculum. Your librarian can collaborate with teachers on lessons so that students learn research skills, source evaluation, web search techniques, and technology skills.

SC Junior Book Awards
PRMS joins other schools across the state each year in voting for a favorite book from a list of twenty books nominated by students around the state. Voting occurs at the end of February so be sure to read as many of them as you can.
Media Center Circulation Policies
1. Students must have their school issued identification cards or a temporary wristband in order to check out materials.
2. Students may check out books and magazines for a period of three weeks. They may be renewed one time.
3. A five-cent per day fine will accrue on each overdue book or magazine. Fines must be paid in order for a student to check out additional materials. Books overdue more than 90 days will be fined at a rate of 25 cents per day up to the price of the book.*
4. In the event that a student loses or damages a book, they are responsible for paying the replacement fee. A student will not be allowed to check out any other materials until the lost book is either found or the replacement fee is paid.
Every effort is made to avoid fines with students receiving notices at least once per nine weeks. Students can also check their library account using the library web page to login to their account, or whenever their class comes to the library.
* Important Note: Books kept over the summer will be fined the price of the book since a replacement must be ordered and paid for by the library.

Check out the State of South Carolina's online library at SCDISCUS.org. To use DISCUS at home you may need the username and password. You can get it from your school media specialist or a public librarian. If you are a Lex2 student, click this link to view them. (You must be logged in to your Lex2 Gmail account to view the document.) For GALE databases you only enter the password. For other databases you enter both the username and password.)
Tutor.com is free if you go through the DISCUS website. The state of South Carolina has purchased Tutor.com licenses for all students in the state.
STEPS:
1. Go to www.scdiscus.org. ( If you are online in South Carolina, you should not need a DISCUS login but if you do use this link).
2. Click on A-Z at the top and go to the letter T and scroll down to Tutor.com.
3. Then click "connect to a tutor now" to get academic help. Put in the subject, your grade level, and the question you have. You'll be connected to a tutor to guide you. You type in a chat box to talk to the tutor and have access to a shared whiteboard and tools.
