Bio
I'm Ashley Whitlock, the teacher for LD Self-Contained students with special needs. I totally enjoy working with my students as they are inquisitive, bright, and always curious. I teach their Math and ELA courses. We also get our hands dirty in our PRMS garden and carpentry projects.
I've taught for 22 years as an ELA teacher and Special Educator. My educational degrees:
Bachelors in English - University of South Carolina, 1981
Masters in Special Education - Liberty University, 2008
Education Specialist in Ed Leadership - Liberty University, 2011
Before teaching I had careers as a professional coordinator for Seabrook Island Conference Resort and as a Physical Security Specialist for Westinghouse Savannah River Site. I became a teacher in 1998 and have taught in private and public schools. My most interesting 5 years of teaching were in the SC Department of Corrections where I helped young inmates earn their GED diplomas.
My hobbies are gardening, sewing, carpentry, and reading. At least once a month I take my camper to a local state park to enjoy the lakes nearby. I live with one son and four furbabies. On weekends, I'm often visiting my parents who are now 93 and 85 years of age! Life is good.
